Top 7 Tips To Scale Your Business With Outsourcing Software Development via Market Business News

Expansion and growth are two major priorities of every business. Both are proportionate to each other. When we talk about expansion, offshore software development might help. It’s cost-efficient compared to getting the same job done with an in-house team. You can find professionals to handle everything from development to deployment, eliminating the need for ongoing efforts or guidance for in-house employees.
Everything from software analysis to development and production can be outsourced. But an important question here is, can outsourcing software development really help your business scale? If yes, then how can one use it in his favour? Keep scrolling to discover the top six tips to get the most out of offshore software development.

#1 Learn About The Number of Edits You Have in Your Basket

After you have the software in hand, you obviously will go through it yourself to ensure the fulfillment of every requirement. During the review process, chances are you might encounter edits and changes that had to be made. In such cases, it’s important for you to have an idea of how many times you have the facility to request for edits. In case of edits, it’s important to clear your limits beforehand. This reduces the chances of future clashes between you and the outsourcing partner.

#2 Choose The Best Outsourcing Software Development Partner

When you plan to hire remote developers in India, always prefer the best outsourcing software development partner. A good outsourcing partner is someone you can trust and rely upon. Here is characteristics and benefits of hiring the dedicated developers explained. Besides, if you prefer agencies, choose the one with the highest ratings. They will help you deliver projects to your clients before time, all within your budget.

#3 Try Out The Agile Methodology

Agile methodology is an effectively and strongly designed approach for software development. This methodology consists of getting a job done via a step-by-step procedure. A step-by-step method is highly reliable, compared to other approaches to offshoring software development. If your outsourcing software development partner follows the same then that’s even better.

#4 Ask For Timely Updates From Outsourcing Partner

Project updates are very important as they keep you on track with what’s going on with your project. When you are deciding on an outsourcing software development partner, make sure to keep the transparency factor in mind. Ensure that whatever individual or agency you outsource software development is transparent and promises timely project updates.

#5 Progress Reports Are as Important as Updates

Receiving timely updates about your software development project is integral. But what’s even more crucial is receiving progress reports. Before finalizing a deal with an outsourcing software development agency, make sure to ask for prompt progress reports. You cannot miss out on these reports because they help you analyze the value of your investment.

#6 Costing is an Underrated Factor

Most outsourcing software development partners offer two major costing plans. They are – one-time payments and installments. It’s your choice whether you want to hire remote developers in India on an hourly basis or pay them fully before or after the completion of a designated task. If your preferred partner only has a limited payment option, you can always request more.

#7 Access to a large talent pool and skilled experts

You hire a smart group of contributing problem-solvers who will take responsibility for delivering results rather than a group of low-performing developers who simply do what they’re told.Highly skilled experts can be difficult to locate, especially if your search is limited to your immediate vicinity. When you connect with outsourcing software development companies like Websmith, you gain access to experts with unparalleled skills and experience.

Final Words

So these were some of the key tips on how to use offshore software development to scale your business. The next time you plan to hire remote developers in India, make sure to try out these tips. They will help you use outsourcing in the best possible way, boosting your business growth.

Lastly, if you find this blog informative, make sure to share it with your business partners and friends. Let others know the power of outsourcing software development and how they can use it to scale their business. Hasta la vista!

The Gut Microbiome and Dementia — understandcancerin60minutes

Alzheimer’s dementia is not a normal part of the aging process. Still, the most significant risk factor is increasing age, with most of those with Alzheimer’s disease 65 years and older.

DEMENTIA IS A CATCH-ALL TERM FOR LOSS OF MEMORY, problem-solving, memory, and other thinking abilities. These deficits interfere with activities of daily living, with Alzheimer’s disease being the most common form of dementia. Today we explore the relationship between the gut microbiome and dementia.

Alzheimer’s dementia is not a normal part of the aging process. Still, the most significant risk factor is increasing age, with most of those with Alzheimer’s disease 65 years and older.

For those who get it at a younger age, we refer to it as early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. These younger folks can be in the condition’s early, middle, or late stages.

We may conveniently divide Alzheimer’s disease into two forms:

  • Common Alzheimer’s disease. Those with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease have the common form. It progresses similar to AD seen in older adults.
  • Genetic (familial) Alzheimer’s disease. This type of AD is uncommon. Symptoms typically emerge while individuals are in their 30s, 40s, or 50s. Family history is the only known risk factor for genetic (familial) Alzheimer’s disease.

Dementia is the product of brain cell damage, with this injury interfering with brain cells’ communicating with one another. Without good inter-nerve cell chatting, behavior and feelings can change.

Dementia: A global public health epidemic

Dementia is a global health issue of increasing importance. There are tremendous negative consequences for numerous socioeconomic measures (and the burden on sufferers).

By 2030, over 82 million people — and over 150 million by 2050 — will have Alzheimer’s dementia. Unfortunately, there are no curative treatments, and we don’t understand why the disease occurs.

For those without the less common genetic form, why does dementia happen? Researchers are examining shared genetics with other diseases to understand better the biological mechanisms underlying Alzheimer’s disease.

new study adds support for a brain-gut connection.

The gut microbiome and dementia connection

Family history is the only known risk factor for Alzheimer’s dementia. We have to do better in identifying causes. Now comes an innovative study connecting the gut microbiome to the brain and dementia risk.

Several studies demonstrate the co-occurrence of dementia (especially Alzheimer’s) with gut disorders such as gastritis, the gut microbiome, and certain medicines (such as proton pump inhibitors) used to treat peptic ulcer disease.

Gut-brain axis

While such studies suggest an association between Alzheimer’s and gastrointestinal tract disorders, it is unclear whether the gut issues are risk factors for dementia or vice-versa. The gut-brain axis exists for other central nervous system problems such as Parkinson’s disease and depression.

Today we examine an Australian study that comprehensively analyzes the link between Alzheimer’s disease and gut disorders. While we will learn that they could not find a causal relationship between dementia and the gastrointestinal tract, they did find shared genes and enrichment of autoimmunity and more.

The gutmicrobiome, the brain, genetics, and dementia

The research investigation incorporated data from historical genome-wide association studies. They looked for patients with Alzheimer’s dementia, gastroesophageal reflux disease (heartburn), peptic ulcer diseaseirritable bowel syndrome, inflammation of the stomach and small intestine (gastritis-duodenitis).

The final group analysis represented more than 450,000 individuals. Here are the results:

All the gastrointestinal tract disorders (except irritable bowel syndrome) appeared to correlate with Alzheimer’s dementia.

Among the biological factors examined, abnormal cholesterol appeared to underscore the gut-brain connection. Abnormal cholesterol appeared to be a risk factor for gut disorders and Alzheimer’s dementia.

The study authors suggest that cholesterol-lowering statin drugs (such as atorvastatin or lovastatin) be studied to see if they help protect the gut and, in turn, the brain.

My take — The gut microbiome, brain, and dementia

Of course, correlation is not causality: We don’t have evidence that gut disorders cause Alzheimer’s or vice-versa. Still, the researchers point to a Mediterranean-type diet — one rich in natural fats and vegetables — as not a bad idea.

The researchers report no relevant financial relationships. Thank you for joining me in this look at the relationship between the gut microbiome and Alzheimer’s dementia.

TO REFUND OR NOT? via Isioma Official

One morning I took my clothes to the drycleaner’s. We agreed they would be cleaned that same day while I pick up the next day. I paid the service fee in full and was issued a receipt with the words ‘no refund of money after payment’ conspicuously written on it. Next day I went to pick up only to discover the clothes had not even been cleaned. I requested to take the clothes away and demanded a refund of the money I paid since they had not performed their part of the agreement. The manager, in refusing my request, reminded me of the no refund clause contained in the payment receipt earlier issued to me. After much back and forth between us I finally recovered the money in full.

Does this sound familiar? We see such clauses in shopping premises, purchase receipts, carriage tickets, etc. Contrary to popular belief, a mere inclusion of such clause in business transactions is not enough to make it enforceable. In Nigeria, policies of service providers or terms and conditions included in commercial transactions must conform with the provisions of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018, otherwise they are invalid and of no effect. Various jurisdictions all over the world also have laws that regulate similar situations. Also, a defaulting service provider is not entitled to retain monies paid by a customer, and where the service provider is not in default, what he is entitled to if an order, booking or reservation is cancelled is a reasonable charge, subject to some conditions, and not the entire sum paid by the customer.

Are you a business owner? Do not include just any terms or conditions you fancy in your commercial transactions or when drafting company policy. That you have designated a certain condition or rule as ‘policy’ or as ‘binding’ does not make it legal or binding or enforceable. Acquaint yourself with the necessary laws or engage a lawyer to provide suitable policies for your business. Need some guidance in drawing up your company policy? I am just a click away.

What experience do you have about refunds? Would you agree to refund money paid to you by a customer?

Best, worst cities for air quality: California ranks among worst, East Coast is cleaner

USA TODAY

Written by Jordan Mendoza at USA TODAY

A report released by the American Lung Association revealed millions of Americans are breathing unhealthy levels of air pollution across the country.

State of the Air 2022, based on data from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency from 2018 to 2020 also revealed which cities had the best and worst air quality.

The rankings are based on three categories: ozone pollution, year-round particle pollution and short-term exposure particle pollution over 24 hours.

The report, released Thursday, listed climate-change-driven wildfires as one of the biggest contributors for the rise in air particle pollution, a factor reflected in the rankings. Western cities have been plagued by historic wildfires in recent years.

Most of the cities with the cleanest air quality were on the East Coast.

Here are are the best and worst cities for air quality, according to the American Lung Association:

Los Angeles ranked poorly in multiple categories in this year's State of the Air report.

California dominated the worst-air rankings, with three of the state’s cities topping each of the categories for worst air. The Los Angeles-Long Beach area had the worst air by ozone, Bakersfield had the worst year-round particle pollution, and the Fresno-Madera-Hanford area had the worst air by short-term particle pollution.

Student loan debt Cancelation

Democrats urge Biden to extend payment pause and cancel debt in new letter

via Aarthi Swaminathan · Reporter

Thu, March 31, 2022, 10:00 AM·6 min read

Prominent Democrats are again urging the Biden administration to extend the pandemic-era student loan payment pause beyond May 1 and cancel debt for millions of borrowers, according to a letter sent on Thursday morning.

“We are writing to urge you to act now to extend the pause on federally-held student loan payments until at least the end of the year and to provide meaningful student debt cancellation,” the letter signed by Sens. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and Reps. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) and Jim Clyburn (D-SC) stated. Another 87 lawmakers added their names to the letter.

Student loan payments and interest on federally-held debt have been suspended since March 2020, meaning that an estimated 37 million borrowers did not have to pay on their loans. The New York Fed recently found that the payment pause has led to “an estimated $195 billion worth of waived payments through April 2022.” Another roughly 10 million borrowers who hold private or Family Federal Education Loan (FFEL) loans owned by commercial banks did not benefit from the payment pause.

“The payment pause has been a significant federal investment throughout the pandemic, providing essential relief to millions of families during the economic and public health crisis and saving them an average of $393 per month,” the letter asserted, later adding that most borrowers “are not financially prepared to shoulder another bill as they face skyrocketing costs for necessities like food and gas.”

White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain recently said that President Biden “is going to look at what we should do on student debt before the pause expires, or he’ll extend the pause.” The letter noted that Klain’s comments “about potentially extending the payment pause and administratively canceling student loan debt are encouraging to millions of borrowers across the country.”

Biden backed broad student loan forgiveness of $10,000 on the campaign trail in 2020 amid more generous proposals from then-rivals Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) and Warren. An erasure of $10,000 for all borrowers with federally-backed loans would cost roughly $371 billion and erase the loans of about a third of borrowers.

During the current administration, Democrats have repeatedly urged a seemingly skeptical President Biden to enact broad-based cancellation of up to $50,000 via executive action (as opposed to legislation passed by Congress). The letter echoed Warren’s previously stated argument that student loan forgiveness would boost the economy.

“Canceling a meaningful amount of student debt will provide long-term benefits to individuals and the economy, helping families buy their first homes, open a small business, or invest in their retirement,” the letter stated.

‘Your administration must act as quickly as possible’

The debate surrounding another extension of the pause and potential direct student loan forgiveness increasingly has potential political implications with midterm elections coming up in November.

“The majority of Americans support you taking action; recent polling shows that over 60% of likely voters support continuing to pause student loan payments and canceling student debt, with support strongest among likely voters of color,” the letter said, adding that “your administration must act as quickly as possible to extend the pause and make clear to the American public your intention to cancel a meaningful amount of student debt.”

Rep. Pressley has repeatedly argued that student loan forgiveness is “a matter of racial and economic justice” given the disproportionate burden on borrowers of color.

“Canceling student debt is one of the most powerful ways to address racial and economic equity issues,” the new letter stated. “The student loan system mirrors many of the inequalities that plague American society and widens the racial wealth gap. Black students in particular borrow more to attend college, borrow more often while they are in school, and have a harder time paying their debt off than their white peers.”

recent analysis from the California Policy Lab and the Student Loan Law Initiative found that if the payment pause ends after May 1, about 7.8 million borrowers — roughly one in three student debtors — are at “high risk” of struggling to repay their loans.

‘We applaud your efforts to date’

Thursday’s letter was the latest in lawmakers’ and advocates’ efforts to push the administration to make a decision on loan forgiveness.

Warren, Schumer, and Pressley have repeatedly called on Biden to cancel $50,000 in student loan debt immediately via executive order on the premise that there is sufficient legal backing for the administration to do so.

The basic argument, as detailed by the Legal Services Center of Harvard Law School, is that the Education Secretary has the power “to cancel existing student loan debt under a distinct statutory authority — the authority to modify existing loans found in 20 U.S.C. § 1082(a)(4).” (Toby Merrill, who founded the Project on Predatory Student Lending at Harvard Law School and co-authored the legal analysis, currently works for the Education Department.)

A memo related to the president’s legal authority on student loan forgiveness, sent to Education Secretary Miguel Cardona in April 2021, became public in November in a heavily redacted form.

The Biden-era ED has taken several actions — aside from extending the payment pause multiple times — to refine the unwieldy student loan system and erase debt. These include overhauling the troubled Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program for student loan borrowers in public service, erasing debt held by some students who were defrauded by a predatory for-profit college, discharging debt of totally and permanently disabled borrowers, and increasing scrutiny of student loan servicers. One estimate is that 700,000 borrowers have seen more than $17 billion wiped away during Biden’s tenure.

“While we applaud your efforts to date – including targeted relief for disabled borrowers, victims of for-profit colleges, and others as well as working to fix existing programs like Public Service Loan Forgiveness – these efforts still leave the majority of federal student loan borrowers out,” the new letter from the Democrats stated.

Gas-powered leaf blowers face Severe Restrictions in California as they Blow Parasites and Airborne Feces in Public Places

California’s moment of reckoning via David Knowles Senior Editor Gavin Newsom

ALTADENA, Calif. — With the Omicron variant of the coronavirus still circulating, six friends gathered last Saturday for an outdoor brunch on the patio of a house in Los Angeles County. But as the meal got underway, a steady roar from a gas-powered leaf blower, like a hairdryer on steroids, drew closer from across a fence line, drowning out the conversation.

“The leaf blower is a truly vile invention,” one of the guests, Geoff Dyer, a writer and visiting professor at the University of Southern California, said over the noise, “a major setback to the progress of civilization.”

Dyer is not alone in that view, and neighboring Pasadena is one of dozens of California cities that enacted restrictions on the use of leaf blowers over the last decade. The outcry over the ubiquitous devices grew so loud, in fact, that in October, California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill that will mean the end of the use of gas-powered leaf blowers and lawn mowers in the state.

But addressing the noise pollution they cause wasn’t the main reason behind the legislation. Small off-road engines, or SOREs, are a significant source of greenhouse gas emissions, causing spikes in asthma in workers who operate them.

“Today, operating the best-selling commercial lawn mower for one hour emits as much smog-forming pollution as driving the best-selling 2017 passenger car, a Toyota Camry, about 300 miles — approximately the distance from Los Angeles to Las Vegas,” the California Air Resources Board said in a recent fact sheet. “For the best-selling commercial leaf blower, one hour of operation emits smog-forming pollution comparable to driving a 2017 Toyota Camry about 1,100 miles, or approximately the distance from Los Angeles to Denver.”

With California looking to take the lead on reducing the greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change, the new law mandates that all SOREs used in the state starting in 2024 be zero-emission, and the state Legislature has set aside $30 million to help aid landscapers and gardeners in that transition.Story continues

“It’s amazing how people react when they learn how much this equipment pollutes, and how much smog-forming and climate-changing emissions that small off-road engine equipment creates,” Assembly Member Marc Berman, the author of the legislation, told the Los Angeles Times. “This is a pretty modest approach to try to limit the massive amounts of pollution that this equipment emits, not to mention the health impact on the workers who are using it constantly.”

While considered a scourge by many Americans, leaf blowers do have one big advantage over rakes: they reduce the time it takes to do yard work.

“If you want the job done fast, a leaf blower is the way to go,” Consumer Reports wrote back in 2011. “In our man-versus-machine rake-off, a handheld blower was twice as fast as a rake.”

While the greenhouse gas emissions had yet to be scrutinized, the magazine did, however, acknowledge the sonic assault unleashed by leaf blowers.

“Noise is also a major issue. Indeed, some communities have gone so far as to ban the use of leaf blowers. Others prohibit blowers that exceed a certain decibel level,” the editors wrote.

Hundreds of cities and towns in the U.S., including Washington, D.C.; Burlington, Vt.; Houston; Palm Beach, Fla.; Aspen, Colo.; and Highland Park, Ill., have enacted restrictions on the use of leaf blowers. Among those restrictions: forbidding gas-powered units, imposing decibel limits and limiting what days one can use them.

On Wednesday, the Boston City Council agreed to consider a resolution that would outlaw gas-powered SOREs. Kenzie Block, a city councilor representing the Fenway, Mission Hill, Back Bay, Bay Village and Beacon Hill neighborhoods, said the main impetus for the ban was health-related.

“Leaf blowers can pose serious health risks,” he told UniversalHub.

The city already has noise noise restrictions designed to prevent “anything louder than 50 decibels from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. or anything louder than 70 decibels at any time, except for permitted construction.”

At a distance of 50 feet, the average leaf blower emits noise between 64 and 78 decibels, the Boston Globe reported.

The annoyance over the noise caused by leaf blowers is nothing new. In 2017, police in the Boston suburb of Newton, Mass., whose population is just under 90,000, responded to 320 complaints over a seven-month period after the town passed its own ordinance limiting the amount of noise leaf blowers were allowed to make.

But as more studies emerge detailing the environmental impacts of two-stroke engines used in gas-powered leaf blowers and mowers, other states could follow California’s lead in requiring residents to transition to electric alternatives. State legislators in Illinois and New York have introduced ordinances that would ban the operation or sale of gas-powered leaf blowers.

Critics say California hasn’t provided enough funding to help landscapers make the transition to electric leaf blowers. But the environmental costs of continuing to allow SOREs are also steep. Data from 2018 from the U.S. Department of Transportation showed that Americans used just shy of 3 million gallons of gasoline tending to their yards and gardens, and the resulting emissions are bad for climate change as well as human health.

Top 7 Consumer SCAM predictions for 2022 via WSPA 7News

(WSPA) – As scammers get more sophisticated, it’s more important than ever that we know where we are most vulnerable.

In this consumer exclusive, I got expert advice on the Top 7 scam predictions for 2022.

30 billion dollars in phone scams, and 55 billion in identity fraud, that’s how much Americans lost last year alone to scammers.

And while it’s hard to know how they will strike next Steve Weisman, the cyber expert behind the website Scamicide, has a pulse on the Top 7 Scams to watch out for in 2022.

NUMBER 7: COUNTERFEIT SHOPPING SITES

The holidays were full of stories about bogus shopping sites, and Weisman says that’s only expected to get worse in the New Year.

“Some of those counterfeits are so good that it’s almost impossible to determine, and even if it turns up high on the google or search engine search, doesn’t mean it’s legitimate,” said Weisman.

Weisman recommends plugging in the “url” of any suspicious shopping site to the online resource http://www.WhoIs.com

That way you’ll know who created the site and how long it’s existed.

NUMBER 6: NATURAL DISASTER SCAMS

From deadly tornadoes to devastating wildfires, major natural disasters are making headlines more frequently and scammers use that to set up fake charities. The FBI warns always verify the charity is real with sources like Charity Navigator or GuideStar.

NUMBER 5: CRYPTOCURRENCY CONS

With the digital currency gaining in popularity, scammers are looking to cash in. So be leery of phony crypto offers, and hackers looking to tap into your digital wallet.

NUMBER 4: DATA BREACHES

On this one, Weisman doesn’t mince words.

“You are, not you may, you ARE going to be a victim of a major data breach next year. We all are,” he said.

Weisman is most concerned about ransomware scams like the one that recently hacked into Anmed Health. He says medical data is like gold on the black market. The credit reporting agency Experian warns “a single patient record can sell for upwards of $1000.

NUMBER 3: SOCIAL ENGINEERING SCAMS

That’s where con artists research your social media pages so they can tailor a scam to you.

Star Tummineli in Greenville says she was a target of this type of scam.

“I started following a guy on Tik Tok and as soon as I became friends with him a guy pretending to be him private messaged me saying that he works for a non-profit organization wanting me to send money,” she said.

There are also other examples, like romance scams where con artists use social media to learn about you and lure you into trusting (and even loving) them. And grandparents scams sniff out info about your family so they can threaten you to pay up.

NUMBER 2: THE INTERNET OF THINGS

From our TVs to toys to our security cameras, we’re becoming dependent on a lot of devices that are constantly connected to the internet.

Make sure you change default settings to set the highest security and make sure those listening devices are unplugged.

“We got rid of Alexa because we figure she’s listening all the time and just don’t trust her,” said Stan Metzger in Greenville.

NUMBER 1: SIM SWAPPING

Sim Swapping is a new sneaky way to get around your two-step authentication for mobile banking. Weisman explains how it works.

“They call your mobile phone carrier, they pretend they are you and they get your phone number shifted to their phone, and so in this way they are not only able to steal your password but have the phone to defeat dual factor authentication. So, this is something we’re just starting to see happening, it’s going to be worse in the upcoming year,” he said.

HOW DO YOU AVOID THESE SCAMS?

Here are the main steps to avoid some of these scams.

  1. Freeze your credit at all three credit agencies. It’s free and can save you from identity theft.
  2. Be sure to use two-step authentication for all your smart devices and mobile apps.
  3. Make sure you have unique and complex passwords for your most sensitive logins, including access to your account with your mobile carrier.
